The Financial Reporting Council (FRC) today announced the following member appointments to the Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (AUASB).

Appointments to the AUASB:

• Ms Marje Russ, Chair of the New Zealand Auditing and Assurance Standards Board
• Mr Jason Thorne, Senior Partner Audit and Assurance, Deloitte

Ms Russ’s appointment is on a part‑time basis commencing 1 July 2022 until 30 June 2025. Mr Thorne’s appointment is on a part‑time basis commencing 1 July 2022 until 31 December 2025.

Outgoing member from the AUASB:

• Robert Buchanan, former Chair, New Zealand Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (NZAUASB), whose term on AUASB ended at the end of his term as NZAUASB Chair on 30 June 2022
• Gareth Bird, former Partner, Deloitte, who stepped down from the AUASB on 1 April 2022.
