Synopsis of Tim Flynn Remarks: Restoring Trust and Building Confidence

We are seeing the early stages of a fragile recovery from an unprecedented global economic crisis. The challenge now is moving beyond the financial crisis and getting on the path toward sustainable, long term global growth. The issues are complex – from fundamental shifts in the global economy to the intense and necessary debate on regulatory reform. For business, the financial markets and governments it's a time for rethinking traditional models and also identifying new opportunities. At the heart of the challenge is rebuilding trust and confidence in the system. This means looking beyond the short term and focusing on long-term stakeholder value, it means addressing systemic risk so that we have a stable financial system, and most importantly it means as institutions and individually we promote an ethical business culture that promotes sound values and principles.
